About Arizona Philharmonic:
Prescott’s Professional Orchestra

Arizona Philharmonic (AZ Phil) is celebrating its fourth season in Prescott in 2021-2022 as Prescott’s regional professional orchestra, presenting large and small concerts that engage and inspire listeners. Based in Prescott and performing also in Surprise, AZ Phil draws musicians from across Arizona and is committed to offering transformative music, while nurturing community participation and supporting the needs and growth of the Prescott area performing arts scene.

In 2017, Arizona Commission on the Arts awarded seed money to start Arizona Philharmonic. From 2017 to 2018, four performing arts organizations collaborated to form Arizona Philharmonic: Chaparral Arts, Yavapai College, Prescott Chorale, and Yavapai College Performing Arts Center. Our principal conductor, Maestro Peter Bay of the Austin Symphony, led our first full orchestra concert on August 26, 2018.

Arizona Philharmonic is committed to quality concerts; paying musicians fair wages; creating music jobs; promoting living composers; offering creativity-based outreach to youth, underserved, and seniors; and enabling attendance by all economic levels. Arizona Philharmonic is grounded in a culture of kindness.

We aim to increase the vitality and diversity of the Prescott region’s music scene. Many of the 100+ Arizona musicians we introduced to Prescott have also joined other ensembles in the region. We helped create the region’s first professional chorus, whose premiere performance with us featured vocalists from across the Southwest. We lead efforts to improve and create performance spaces, reduce our local venue shortage, give space to community performers, and support the Prescott downtown business district.

Arizona Philharmonic is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our EIN is 83-4652802.
