As a vital part of the economy, the mission of Prescott Farmers Market is to support and expand local agriculture, cultivate a healthy community and increase access to affordable local food.
Prescott Farmers Market (PFM) began in 1997 with a handful of vendors in downtown Prescott, AZ, and has grown to operate a year-round market where local farmers, ranchers and food artisans gross $1.9 million annually. PFM is a producer-only market that supports vendors who grow or raise everything they sell, with priority given to growers within Yavapai County.
PFM serves an estimated 50,000 community members and more than 60 small businesses through the market and community-driven programs. PFM supports local agriculture by providing a market through which small-scale farmers can feed their community and make a livable wage. As part of our Cultivating Growers effort, we take a holistic view of our local food system, working toward sustainable, equitable, and resilient relationships with our farmers, ranchers, and food producers. The Prescott Community Compost Project is a living laboratory and educational site, where dedicated volunteers turn food scraps collected from over 200 households and four restaurants into nutrient-rich compost for local gardeners. Last, PFM recently opened NoCo Community Kitchen, a commissary kitchen and small food business incubator to support current vendors and encourage local food entrepreneurs to open new ventures.
